Keith,
Microsoft has announced the release of a beta version of Internet Explorer 7. Before trying it out (installation overwrites version 6), to your knowledge is there anything that might conflict with EditWrx? Should we tell our clients to hold off upgrading to IE 7?
Information/tour on IE 7 is avaialable here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/ie7/default.mspx
Thanks

I don't dare overwrite version6 with the beta7 so I don't know the answer for sure. I'm going to install the beta on my laptop if/when I get some time to setup the laptop for something more than a paperweight.
I have not seen anything being discussed in the developer's forums on changes to the mshtml dll so I don't think beta7 should break anything. But then who knew that SP2 would cause all popups to have a statusbar that would rob 20 t0 40 pixels from the popup and require redrawing every popup from the inside out after it loaded? It sure caught me unaware.
I would certainly caution your clients to postpone upgrading to a beta version of anything like Explorer. I don't believe there is a rollback or uninstall/reinstall available for Explorer since it is an integral part of the operating system and not just another application..

I downloaded the beta of IE 7 late feb and it stalled on installation and would not reinstall, uninstall or work at all!
I had to reinstall windows to fix it...

I hate to be like this pal, but I'm glad it was you instead of me. THANKs for the warning!

Keith
Any further developments on IE 7 compatability with EditWrx now that the former has been launched?

We are still testing for problems with IE7. So far we've run into no problems that require changes in EditWrx code, although we've found a few of IE7's default settings that will need to be altered for a good experience (EditWrx runs onthe default settings OK, there's just some annoying stuuf going on).
Microsoft is not going to roll out IE7 upgrades in the Auto-Updates until after Nov 1 so we are going to wait until then to put a page up at editwrx.com about IE7.

Thanks Keith
The reason I asked is that here in Canada my ISP (http://www.shaw.ca) is today offering a pre-release download, so no doubt other ISPs across the continent are doing the same.
Thanks,
Brian

There are only three new features we've noticed so far that cause minor problems with IE7. All three can be fixed by making the website a Trusted Site. These three features are all security related.
Open a page on the website. Then Tools>Internet Options>Security tab
- click Trusted sites
- click the Sites button
- Add the website to the list
- If you do not want to have to access the site in https, uncheck Require server verification
- click Custom Level
- under Misc enable Allow websites to open windows without address or status bars
- under Scripting enable Allow Programmatic clipboard access
- under Scripting enable Allow websites to prompt for information using scripted windows
