If you have purchased a Brand Release you will have changed the brand on line 2 of routines.txt and you may have also changed some images. How do these get affected during a update?

An update overwrites all files in your installation. EXCEPT wrx.cgi and the files in the /library/data/folder. In addition, updater reads the brand on line 2 of routines.txt before the update and restores it after the update.

To protect other files you may have customized from being overwritten you need to change the server's write permissions. On Windows/IIS server just give the file READONLY permissions. On Unix/Apache give the file 0444 permissions (EditWrx writes on the Owner bit so it can write to 0644 but not to 0444).

REMEMBER, if you later FTP to overwrite your customized files your FTP client may automatically reset permissions and you may need to reset them to READONLY/0444.

Hello Keith

Can you give me the name of those files that would normally be edited during a re-brand that I should change the permissions on when I am updating to the latest version.

Thanks

Paul

The only files you may have changed during a rebrand that need to be protected are image files you may have changed in the ikons folder. The update mechanism will automatically preserve the text changes in library/ folder that effect a rebrand.
